BRC Committees

The management of the Biomedical Research Centre and implementation of its strategy is supported by a number of boards, committees and groups.

Biomedical Research Centre (BRC) Management Group

The BRC Management Group enables senior and key staff to discuss the implementation of the Centre's strategic objectives and attainment of key performance indicators against targets.

Clinical Research Facilities Scientific Advisory Board (CRF SAB)

The Clinical Research Facilities Scientific Advisory Board reviews all applications from investigators wishing to undertake ethically approved clinical research studies using the Clinical Research Facilities at Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust.

Commercialisation Executive Group (CEG)

The Commercialisation Executive Group brings together leads from our partner NHS Trusts and King's Business responsible for R&D business development and commercialisation activities with members of the comprehensive BRC and the SLaM BRC. The aim of the group is to provide strategic overview and alignment of commercial activity across the organisations.

External Scientific Advisory Board (ESAB)

The External Scientific Advisory Board is tasked with advising the Director of the Biomedical Research Centre on the scientific strategy of the centre and its implementation.  Members include eminent national and international researchers in the field of translational medicine.

Programme Review Board (PRB)

The bimonthly Programme Review Board monitors translational research outputs across BRC research themes, cross-cutting disciplines and BRC interdisciplinary research programmes against agreed research milestones.  This forum engenders a culture of positive progression along the translational research pathway, highlights the added value through NIHR BRC support and identifies further opportunities for collaboration.

Strategic Advisory Board (SAB)

The joint Strategic Advisory Board  was established in 2009 and coordinates strategic planning across the three NIHR funded Centres at King’s Health Partners thereby enhancing synergistic opportunities for collaboration, external stakeholder engagement and cross-utilisation of NIHR-funded infrastructure.

Training Committee

The Training Committee comprises senior members from our partner NHS Trusts and Health Schools within KCL in order to provide integration and mentorship of the training platforms for our clinical and non-clinical trainees.  It has oversight of the BRC Clinical Training Fellowships, Postdoctoral Training Fellowships and PhD Studentships as well as the third round Academic Clinical Fellowships and Clinical Lectureships recently awarded in the context of the BRC.

Working Group

The Working Group comprises nominated scientists and clinicians from all of our themes and cross-cutting disciplines within the BRC.  The remit of this group is to foster collaborative working, assist the Training Committee in the selection of candidates for the training programmes and has oversight of the core facilities provided by the BRC.
