Help with intellectual property

The BRC was established in order to drive progress on innovation and translational research in biomedicine. King’s Business is here to help identify, manage and develop any IP or innovation created by King’s College London staff in the course of their BRC work and to assist staff in their engagement with industry and their translation and commercialisation of innovation.

Staff in the Commercial Development group at King’s Business are trained to help you with any issues related to the technology transfer and business development process:

  • marketability
  • funding sources
  • commercial partners
  • patenting and other protection methods
  • new business start-up considerations
  • College policies and procedures
  • and much more

To speak to someone about the support available for IP, patent protection and interaction with business, contact the King’s Business team.  Contact information is available on the King's Business website.

You can also find further information on the technology transfer process.

Guy's and St Thomas's Commercial Directorate's IP and Innovation unit provides services to protect, commercialise and develop innovations and discoveries associated with the translation of research or arising directly from the delivery of patient care (from diagnostics and devices through to copyrights, databases and software).

It also supports related commercial collaborations, consultancies, spin-outs, material transfers and Guy's and St Thomas' Intellectual Property policies.

The unit works closely with researchers within the BRC to develop joint projects and leverage our joint capabilities and resources, as well as partnerships with Guy's and St Thomas' Charity, within the national NHS innovation networks and industry internationally.
